Genius Hour actually originated from Google, to drive employees to follow their passion. Employees began devoting some of their time to pursuing tasks, research and projects that were of interest to them, as long as it was able to drive growth within the company. Similarly, in classrooms, teachers have been doing the same. Genius Hour is designed for students to research an area that is of interest to them, or that they are passionate about. It is meant to drive motivation, so that students are actively engaging in their learning, so that they are not lost by the school system and curriculum. It allows students to be creative, and use critical thinking, as well as explore all avenues of research.
I will definitely be incorporating Genius Hour into my classroom, as I think it is a fantastic way to engage all students.
Reflection for Powtoon:
PowToon is a tool to that is relatively easy to navigate and
use, especially in the classroom. At first, I found it complicated to navigate
and use, but as I got more used to it, I realized how effective it actually is.
I will be using it in my future classroom, as it can be used in research
projects, presentations, test reviews and more. Powtoon is an easy and
effective way for children to learn something new, while experimenting with and
exploring new technology. The interactive keeps students engaged, with moving
pictures and videos, as well as fun text and music features.
